4. Data Protection

Under Article 13 of the Federal Constitution and the legal provisions of the Swiss Confederation on data protection, everyone has the right to privacy and protection against the misuse of their personal data. The federal authorities strictly adhere to these provisions. Personal data is treated with the utmost confidentiality and is neither sold nor transmitted to third parties.

The federal authorities work closely with hosting providers to protect their databases as effectively as possible from external intrusions, losses, misuse, and falsification.

Alertswiss allows for the entry of personal data, specifically information that users enter into their emergency plans. This data is stored exclusively on the user’s computer unless the user sends it to third parties.

The Federal Office for Civil Protection cannot access users’ personal data.

When accessing the MVCreation website, the following data is recorded: IP address, date, time, browser request, and information generally transmitted about the operating system or browsing software. These data allow the federal authorities to conduct anonymized statistical evaluations to identify trends and improve their services accordingly. Under the Federal Law on Postal and Telecommunications Surveillance (LSCPT), there is a legal obligation to retain connection data for at least six months. However, these rules do not apply to voluntary contact submissions. If you register your email address, it is stored in a separate database that is not linked to the anonymous log files. You may cancel your registration at any time.

The Federal Office for Civil Protection operates various social media accounts and profiles (X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, Xing, Instagram, etc.), its own YouTube channels, and several applications. These sites and services are offered and managed by third parties. Each of them has its own privacy policy.

Additionally, third-party services like YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), Google Maps, Google Ads, Google Custom Search, Instagram, and Bitly are integrated into some of the MVCreation sites. These providers also use cookies. When users access the MVCreation sites, they automatically transmit data to these providers. These instances are expressly subject to the privacy policies of the respective providers. Users should be aware that data may be collected and transmitted to third parties. If a user is simultaneously logged into another service, the transmitted information may be directly associated with that account.

MVCreation has no control over the collection and use of this data. It does not know the extent of the data recorded, where it is stored, how long it is kept, whether any deletion rules are followed, what evaluations and associations are made with this data, or to whom it is transmitted.

Main third-party services used on the MVCreation sites:

  • X (formerly Twitter): X, Inc., 1355 Market Street, Suite 900 San Francisco, CA 94103. You can find information about data processing in the following documents: Privacy Policy and Cookie Use.

5. Submissions / Comments

The spontaneous submission of texts and illustrations (manuscripts, letters to the editor, data carriers, blog articles, photographs, etc.) implies that the author agrees to potential publication on MVCreation. The Federal Office for Civil Protection reserves the right to shorten or modify the original text.

In case of publication, the Federal Office for Civil Protection does not guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy, timeliness, reliability, or comprehensibility of the submitted texts and illustrations. The spontaneous submission of texts and illustrations is not compensated, even if published on Alertswiss. Submitted materials will not be returned or retained.

We gladly welcome comments related to the topics offered on MVCreation that are formulated objectively and courteously. Alertswiss.ch disclaims any responsibility for trackbacks or links present in comments. We remove comments with advertising purposes, that infringe on personal rights, or that violate the law.

When you fill out a form (e.g., contact form), only the data necessary to fulfill the intended purpose is processed. In general, all fields are optional. A field is mandatory only if the federal administration needs the data to perform a legal task or respond to your request. Data is deleted no later than the expiration of the legal retention period.

6. Web Analysis

For web analyses that do not involve personal data, MVCreation uses the software Matomo. The data collected allows us to expand and improve our services. Matomo is hosted by federal authorities’ providers. All data is retained by the federal authorities and is never transmitted to third parties.
